Obtaining full mouth dental implants to replace the entire smile

Your smile is not complete if you’re missing a tooth or several teeth. That is why our team at Total Health Dental in Aurora, Illinois, consults with patients who have tooth loss to help them choose a solution that best fits their unique needs. Dr. Khaja Mohsinuddin is pleased to offer different options for patients to choose from, including the placement of partial dentures, full dentures, implant-retained dentures, dental bridges, and dental implants. With so many options, patients might feel overwhelmed and unsure which solution is best for them. We find that patients missing all the teeth in the dental arch may be best suited for a complete denture or full-mouth dental implants.

How do full-mouth dental implants work?

Dental implants are titanium posts that work like a natural tooth root. The dentist places the implant into the jawbone during oral surgery. The area is allowed to heal as a process called osseointegration occurs. That is the growth of the jawbone around the implant to keep it firmly attached to the jaw. Once this happens, the dentist can restore the implants with crowns, bridges, or dentures.

What is the All-On-4 implant concept?

All-On-4 is a unique way dentists can affix dentures using four dental implants strategically placed in the lower or upper arch. The dentures then snap in over the four dental implants along the arch for optimum stability and strength, allowing the new denture to function correctly.

What if I need to replace a single tooth?

Dental implants are also used to replace one tooth. The implant is placed, and a customized dental crown is fabricated to fit over the implant’s abutment to function as a single tooth.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are titanium roots, that are replaced with in the jawbone to resemble a tooth or group of teeth. A screw is inserted through the gums and into the jawbone. A porcelain crown is then attached to the screw to become the new tooth or teeth. They can be used to support dental prosthesis including crowns, dentures, and bridges. Today’s treatments are so natural looking, no one will know you had surgery. There’s approximately a 95% success rate for all implants. With modern advances in dentistry, some implants can be restored immediately with life like all porcelain crowns. For more details ask your dentist.
