Obtain a straighter smile with Invisalign

Invisalign Silver Provider 2024

When patients visit the team at Total Health Dental and are interested in straightening their smile, they often think that they may be referred to an orthodontist for metal brackets and wire braces. Fortunately, there are many different ways to achieve straighter teeth with today’s options. Dr. Khaja Mohsinuddin and his team in Aurora, Illinois, may recommend patients consider the advantages of invisible braces known as Invisalign.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign uses clear aligners for teeth straightening. Patients can achieve a straighter smile by wearing clear, custom-made plastic trays to gently reposition the teeth within the dental arch. It can be used to address cosmetic imperfections such as gaps or turned teeth or bite misalignments, helping patients with conditions such as overbites, underbites, and crossbites. Wearing the trays for approximately 10 days at a time and switching out to the next tray in the series allows patients control over the process. Additionally, patients have far fewer appointments than those who visit a traditional orthodontist, allowing for more time to enjoy life and less time in the dental chair!

Who is a candidate for Invisalign?

Patients of all ages are encouraged to ask about Invisalign for straightening their teeth. It works best for mild to moderate smile misalignment and can be used for both teenagers and adults. In fact, approximately 30% of patients who seek orthodontic treatment are adults over 21.

Why choose Invisalign?

There are advantages to Invisalign orthodontic treatment that many patients will consider when comparing this and traditional braces for their smiles.

Invisalign:

  • Provides fast realignment of the teeth
  • Uses comfortable plastic trays custom-fitted to the patient
  • It is discreet, allowing for realignment without the embarrassment of metal appliances
  • Allows patients to brush and floss as usual throughout treatment, which reduces the amount of plaque build-up, allowing for healthier gums
  • It is comparable in cost with traditional braces
  • Requires fewer visits to the dentist for evaluations and adjustments

Invisalign is a clear alternative to regular braces that gradually shift your teeth. Watch the video to learn more about the process and its benefits.

What is Invisalign®?

This is Dr. Khaja Mohsinuddin from Total Health Dental. I am here to talk to you guys about Invisalign®. I am sure most of you have heard that Invisalign® is a clear alternative to regular braces.

You wear a series of clear aligners over the top of your teeth, and your teeth shift gradually as you wear a new aligner.

What is the process of getting Invisalign®?

The process of Invisalign® is very simple. We start with the consultation making sure that you’re eligible. Take a panoramic x-ray making sure your wisdom teeth are not in a place that might affect Invisalign®.

We start with a 3D scan which will scan your upper and lower arch. We have the ability to show you, right after the scan, a simulation of what your teeth can look like.

You can see a lot of crowding here, and after we’re done with Invisalign, a nice straight smile. Once we have that, we gather all the information, take some pictures send that information over to align technologies.

They will then process your case, and I will work with them closely to ensure we find out your goals and achieve what we want to do with your smile.

After the aligners come back, we’ll bring you back into the office for a 1/2-hour visit, where we will deliver the first set of aligners. We may have to place some attachments on your teeth, and that’s as easy as the process goes.

We will monitor your treatment probably every month or two months, depending on how often you could come back into the office.

What are the advantages of Invisalign®?

The advantages of Invisalign over regular braces are huge. Now no one wants to wear these metal brackets.

You can see them here on the top of your teeth, which creates more plaque and bacteria, possibly leading to decay.

Clear aligners are awesome because you can remove them to eat, drink, and obviously brush and floss to keep your teeth healthy and put them back on.

You are pretty much wearing your aligners all day except to eat and drink. Then we have better, quicker results with a healthier mouth.

Feel free to give us a call and make an appointment today.

It is not unusual to feel discomfort the first day or two after switching out your Invisalign trays. However, this is typically mild, and patients often do not require help to alleviate this discomfort. If you are noticing discomfort and want to take the edge off, Dr. Khaja Mohsinuddin and his team may recommend taking an over-the-counter medication such as Motrin or Tylenol to ease the discomfort. If the discomfort is extremely severe, this warrants a phone call to the team at Total Health Dental for further evaluation.

Most patients adjust easily to Invisalign aligner trays, though some speech may be affected initially in the first day or two. Most patients get used to talking with their aligners in less than a day and are not affected over the course of their treatment with regular use.

Absolutely! We don’t want patients to feel their orthodontic treatment is keeping them from the activities they love and enjoy. Patients should be mindful of protecting their smile with mouthguards when participating in certain sports, and patients may also find that certain musical instruments may require the removal of the aligner tray to play them properly. Removal is fine as long as you make sure to wear your trays for the number of hours recommended by our team in Aurora, Illinois.
